It’s now just three days until National Make A Difference Day and we list some ways that you could have a positive impact. Each and every one of us is capable of making a change to someone’s day, so why not make a change that counts.
“For every positive change you make in your life, something else also changes for the better- it creates a chain reaction.”- Leon Brown.

 Giving to others

Be Kind to Others

It’s such a simple tactic, but it’s one that we don’t abide by on a daily basis. Too often we get stuck into our own routine and fail to see from another person’s perspective. An easy way for us to make a difference to somebody else’s day, and even our own, is to just be kind to one another. Whether that’s holding a door open for somebody, passing on a paid parking token or saying hello. An act of kindness triggers your happy hormone known as serotonin; it will subsequently help the recipient of the kind act generate more serotonin too. The craziest part of it all is that if somebody witnesses this kind-hearted gesture their serotonin will improve more than the two other parties involved in the scenario.

Positive Mental Attitude

It can be difficult to stay positive during some situations but when we generally keep our spirits up, it cheers up those around us. We can make the most of everything when we keep ourselves positive. Try not to react negatively to things, and dispel any emotional responses until you get chance to cool down. You’ll soon notice a difference to the pattern of your life and will be able to thrive in your day-to-day life by maintaining a positive outlook. When doing so, you will be able to make a great difference to not just your life, but those close to you too.

Giving to the Less Fortunate

To see a physical difference right away, why not give to those that aren’t as fortunate as you. For anybody who regularly walks through a city centre, you will be grasping how serious the homelessness epidemic currently is. Next time you pass a homeless person, why not give them a little donation? Or better yet, you could buy them a hot drink during this cold weather and a little something to eat. You won’t be trying to calculate whether you’ve made a difference, you’ll know whole heartedly that you have made a huge difference to somebody’s day. Alternatively, you can find out ways to help the homeless online at Step by Step.
