What Services do Four Square Offer?

Four Square has played a central role in supporting homeless people and preventing homelessness in Scotland over the last 40 years. This innovative charity has developed a number of initiatives over the years to help prevent homelessness and support homeless people, from offering training and employment opportunities to finding accommodation and furniture for those who are experiencing homelessness.

Accommodation and Advice

Four Square offers accommodation to people in need, including flats for young people as well as a refuge for women who have been victims of domestic abuse. They also provide a prevention service which supports people who are at risk of homelessness, providing holistic help and support for those in need.

Keymoves: Keymoves is a refuge for women aged 18 and over who have experienced domestic abuse or violence. There is 24 hour security and the building has a team of practitioners who are on hand to help, plus every tenant has their own keyworker to help them get the support they need such as developing key skills, finding employment training and work opportunities and support to find permanent accommodation.

No 20: No 20 offers accommodation for young women aged 16-25 who are experiencing homelessness. It offers 6 bedsit rooms for women in need, and residents can stay at No 20 for up to 2 years. Each resident also has an assigned keyworker, so long term support is available to help them develop the skills and find the employment opportunities to move onto a secure and happy home.

Stopover: Stopover offers supported accommodation for young people aged 16-25 and they can stay at Stopover for up to 2 years. Like No 20 and Keymoves, everyone has their own designated keyworker to help them secure long-term accommodation and other opportunities to build a happy life.

Visiting Support: Their Visiting Support team is a prevention team which provides practical housing advice and accommodation for up to 1 year for people who are vulnerable to becoming homeless. They offer support to people who are at risk of homelessness, and help people find the support they need whether it's financial advice, benefits support, help finding suitable accommodation or employability services.

You can find out more about the accommodation and housing services including the facilities available at each of their accommodations, on their Our Services page.

Furniture Initiative

Four Square’s furniture initiative was developed as a creative way to raise funds for the charity and get furniture for their homeless accommodation. They take in donated furniture, and sell them at their charity shop in Edinburgh, which is based at 454 Georgie Road. Here, shoppers can find affordable furniture from bedroom furniture to the dining room, as well as electrical goods such as TVs, kettles, microwaves, lamps and hairdryers. All of their goods are tried and tested to check that they are in good working order, and they are able to offer delivery within Edinburgh for £20 and mid/west Lothian every Wednesday for £30.

They accept all kinds of donations, and you can find a full list of items you can donate on the Furniture Store page.
