What Is the Story of Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary? 


 

Opened in 2018, the Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary was initially started with just three pigs who were destined to be killed as their owner was unable to care for them. Since then, the sanctuary has welcomed thousands of animals, most of them rescued from farms all over the UK. In June of 2020, one of their biggest rescues took place, with over 11,000 hens being rescued through a rescue mission conducted by a group of animal sanctuaries all over the UK. Of those 11,000, all of whom were brought to safety, Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary became home to 2,300 of them and began the process of caring for them, rehabilitating them and finding them their forever homes. Since then, they have continued to rescue “spent hens” destined for slaughter as well as other animals that have a seemingly doomed fate. 

From the rescue process to the rehabilitation and rehoming, the sanctuary seeks to find every animal a caring, loving home to live out the rest of their lives. They often have many animals in need of loving forever homes, including chickens, cockerels, sheep, pigs and goats.
