This November Cherry Trees are taking part in the Discount Promo Codes charity poll alongside two other amazing charities. Please read below to find out more about this Surrey based charity and consider them when voting in the poll. Founded in 1980 by Dr Helen Foley, Cherry Trees provides outstanding home from home care for children and young people with complex disabilities whilst also providing their parents and family with a meaningful break.

What Does Cherry Trees Do?

Last year, Cherry Trees supported 75 families with 1,512 sleepovers and 603 tea or day visits. They also ran five parent and staff wellbeing days, and provided small but vital financial grants through their welfare fund. Providing this lifeline costs £1.3m a year. This is part funded by the local authority but costs, on average, an additional £4.25 per hour of care.

Each hour of care provided by Cherry Trees supports the children as they try out fun activities, explore new hobbies, gain independence and new skills, make friends and build their confidence. Every hour of care also supports the families of these children, with an often much needed break. Parents, siblings and other family members can spend quality time with one another, meet up with friends, catch up on daily work or life duties or simply relax.

Cherry Trees exists to keep families together. A Mencap report found that 8 out of 10 family carers are close to or at breaking point. Cherry Trees provides support through short break prevision to stop this happening.

How Can I Support Cherry Trees?

The first thing you can do to support Cherry Trees is vote for them in the charity poll!

If you would like to support Cherry Trees further there are many ways in which you can get involved. From collecting stamps to volunteering to making a one-off monetary donation, there is a huge variety of options.

If you are local to Surrey you can also check out their website to see all of their current events including the Little Bookham Christmas Market. If you are a bit further afield why not consider buying their Christmas cards or donating to their Christmas Appeal.

What Does My Support Mean for Cherry Trees?

As mentioned above, for every hour of care that Cherry Trees provides they need to fundraise an additional £4.25 to keep supporting the families who rely on them.

  • A donation of £13 provides three hours of play and laughter.

  • A donation of £51 subsides half a day of respite for families.

  • A donation of £102 unlocks an overnight sleepover at Cherry Trees, making a huge difference for the whole family.
