Additionally, when required, the charity can provide further support by completing forms, writing letters and telephoning agencies on behalf of the client. While their face to face support is temporarily suspended due to the coronavirus guidelines, clients are still able to access advice via phone or email.

How Can They Help?

There are a number of ways in which Citizens Advice BCP can help clients. In the case of someone losing their job for example, they may struggle to pay their bills, so the charity would work to assist the client towards taking control of their finances. The charity can assist with bills and any debts that are outstanding by applying to debt schemes, advising on grants and benefits the client may be eligible for, and providing a gateway to appropriate services if needed.

Between April 2018 and March 2019, the charity has been able to help over 13,000 people with over 29,000 different issues. Believing that everyone should be able to access free, independent and confidential advice no matter who they are or their circumstances, the charity campaigns for change, promotes equality and aims to tackle discrimination.

This year, the team at Citizens Advice BCP have worked tirelessly to respond to the needs of individuals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. As a charity, they rely on support and the generosity of the public to provide their services and ultimately make a difference to the community. You can help support their work this December by voting for them in this month’s charity poll.
