Finding Cheap Skincare That Works for You

Buying skincare can be a bit of a minefield. Firstly, there’s the question of whether it actually works. Then there’s the price. And then when you combine both these factors you end up with a beauty dilemma of epic proportions – if it does work, it is worth the money? And if the answer to this question is no, is there an alternative? In the last few years, many brands have started to pull their socks up when it comes to value for money, so thankfully the answer to this particular question is YES. If you’re on a very tight skincare budget, here are some shops and brands that could be the answer to your prayers…

Where to Find the Best Cheap Skincare

Superdrug

Please don’t dismiss this high street name out of hand purely because it is a high street name. Their range of skincare products is the best value you can find anywhere in the UK because they actually work, and there’s a good chance they stock a much cheaper alternative of a brand you already use. When it comes to absolute essentials, the Simply Pure Hydrating Serum is a steel at only £2.99. Use before your moisturiser for an added level of skin hydration, or instead of if your skin is feeling particularly oily. Although it contains no anti-aging ingredients, this is great at brightening your skin.

Talking of anti-aging, this is another area where Superdrug excels. Their B. Range anti-aging products are divided up depending on you own age and requirements, with each selection featuring serums, creams and eye treatments. Many are priced around the £10-£15 mark (which is already exceptionally good value), but with Superdrug promo codes you can often get them on a half price, or buy 1, get 1 half price deal. Oh, and another great thing about Superdrug skincare is that a lot of it is suitable for vegans too.

The Body Shop

Another high street favourite that has really upped its skincare game. One of the things they are currently doing very well is sunscreen. Let’s just say a few words about sunscreen, shall we? For all the expensive anti-aging products you could stock your bathroom cabinet with, the best thing you can do for your skin is use a good sunscreen every day, no matter whether the sun is shining or not. This will prevent long term damage as well as more serious skin issues. But don’t be fooled into thinking a foundation with added SPF is a suitable alternative – it’s won’t give you very much coverage at all, so invest in a separate sunscreen that SPF 30 or higher.

This is where The Body Shop comes in. Our favourite is their Vitamin C Glow Protect Lotion SPF 30 – it’s usually priced at £15, but with The Body Shop discount codes you can often get 30% off your order (sometimes more), bring it much closer to the £10 mark. Not only does it absorb into the skin wonderfully, but that added dose of Vitamin C brightens your complexion too.

The Ordinary

This is a game-changing range of skincare products from Deciem and they are currently available in the UK through a number of sites including Cult Beauty. For anyone who tells says you always have to pay big bucks for good quality skincare with active ingredients, point them in this direction, because The Ordinary has shown this is a complete falsehood. They keep their prices low (most of their products are around the £6-10 mark) by identifying those active ingredients and pretty much stripping away everything else. There are solutions that help with blemishes, signs of aging and skin-brightening, but it’s advisable that you do your research first and try out a couple of products to see what’s suitable for your skin. A good starting point is their Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 for some noticeable skin hydration. Unbelievably, this is only £5.90 when ordering with Cult Beauty discount vouchers, and there’s also a chance you could get free delivery on your order.

So, as you can see there are many affordable, effective skincare products and a lot of them are very easy to get hold of. But remember, everyone’s skin is different and what works for one person, might not suit someone else. Don’t be disheartened if you’re not getting results – all these brands and retailers have a large selection and we’re sure you’ll find something that works for you.
