What Does the Littles Paws Ferret Rescue Do?


Little Paws Ferret Rescue are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of domestic ferrets in the North East UK. Our volunteers provide first class care for ferrets in our care, helping them to recuperate from illness and ill health, teaching them how to become a loving member of the family and we help to match them up with homes that they can thrive in. We also neuter, vaccinate and microchip all of the ferrets in our care. We are passionate about providing advice and information to the public about caring for ferrets and the importance of neutering. We will continue to provide educational opportunities to broaden the knowledge of ferrets as a species and the benefits of owning ferrets.

Since the pandemic we have seen a vast increase in stray and abandoned animals and rescues throughout the UK are struggling to keep up with demand. This puts huge pressure on our stretched budgets and without support we are unable to help the public when they find animals dumped in gardens, sheds and on the streets. We need help to allow us to rescue, rehabilitate and give these animals a new chance at a loving home.

 

Where Is the Little Paws Ferret Rescue?


The rescue is based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear however we also have foster homes all over the North East UK. We are always in need of dedicated volunteers to help with animal care, fostering, events, fundraising and promotion of the charity.  If you want to become a volunteer at Little Paws Ferret Rescue, whether it's providing emergency rescue, fostering ferrets, volunteering at the rescue itself or any other important roles such as events volunteering, visit their Volunteer page.

How Can I Support Little Paws Ferret Rescue?

Providing the ferret rescue facility is very costly, especially with lots of ferrets in need of care, veterinary treatments, neutering, food, bedding and more. The rescue is entirely self-funded and our dedicated volunteers work hard to help care for the rescues residents daily.

£5 could feed a ferret for a week
£10 could cover the cost of microchipping three ferrets
£20 could cover one ferret vaccination
£50 could cover a male ferret neuter

There are hundreds of abandoned and unwanted ferrets picked up by the rescue every year. As a charity, the rescue rely on the generosity of our supporters and you, the general public, to help us provide the very best of care and give these wonderful animals the chance at a new life. Every penny you donate makes a difference. Please consider making a donation, no matter how small, to help us continue to save ferrets in need.
