Support the Rescue & Rehoming of Animals With a Vote for Margaret Green Animal Rescue This May

Margaret Green Animal Rescue LogoMargaret Green Animal Rescue takes in pets that have either been neglected, mistreated or abandoned. They also understand that circumstances can change and are there to help those in need, so that pets will find a warm bed and dedicated teams to provide love and care. As well as veterinary care, pets also receive enrichment and rehabilitation whilst they await their forever home. In addition, most of the animals are microchipped, vaccinated, treated against worms and fleas and neutered before going to their new home.

The charity believes there really is no better feeling than finding that perfect match! Their rehoming process is designed to help possible owners adopt a pet that fits in perfectly with their lifestyle. When rehoming a pet from Margaret Green Animal Rescue, adopters can be guaranteed support from the charity. Any advice and guidance needed, the team will be available to discuss with you. It can take time for animals to settle into their new homes, so the charity understands that a little help and support can go a long way.

About Margaret Green Animal Rescue

The charity was founded in 1965 by Margaret Green, along with her father, Mr Jerry Green. A remarkable lady with incredible strength, Margaret sadly passed away on Christmas Eve 2009, aged 94. Despite being hospitalised for weeks prior to her death, she still showed her dedication to the rescue animals, insisting on making sure the horses had their carrots (a Christmas Eve treat) for their supper.

The aims and values at Margaret Green Animal Rescue continue to be rescue, care, rehome and support as they care for over 1,200 animals each year. They have three rescue centres:

Church Knowle Rehoming & Visitor Centre - Covering 35 acres of countryside, the centre cares for cats, horses, donkeys, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, ferrets, and more. This is also where the charity’s head office is based, which includes finance, retail, and the fundraising team. Church Knowle is also a visitor centre where the public can walk around with no charge for entry - although donations are welcome. The centre is due to open its visitor element on the 22nd June 2021.

Lincoln Farm Rescue & Rehoming Centre for Dogs - Situated between Blandford and Bere Regis in Dorset, this centre cares for a variety of rescue dogs who come in for various reasons. Most recently, they have seen an increase in Sighthounds, particularly ex racing Greyhounds.

Wingletang Rescue & Rehoming Centre - Situated near Tavistock in Devon, the centre cares for both cats and dogs, and is currently fundraising for a new cattery.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue also has four charity shops, all based in Dorset. These are located in Weymouth, Wimborne, Kinson, and Winton. The charity started their retail business in 2016 and haven’t looked back since! They welcome donations and volunteers which both help raise funds and awareness for the animals in the care of the charity.

The charity also hosts yearly events at each centre and at their shops, however this has been impacted by Covid-19. To see the most up to date list of events, head to their website.
