Supporting people experiencing homelessness by voting for Justlife this March

This March, Justlife is one of four charities participating in our monthly charity poll. They will be competing to win 20% of Discount Promo Codes profits, hoping to get the most votes from the public to win! Justlife: Supporting people experiencing homelessness.


Rough sleeping is visible but most people experiencing homelessness are hidden in temporary accommodation. Through Justlife’s health and housing projects, they support people to access the health treatment they need, and find a safe, stable home of their own.


 



What Does Justlife Do? 


Justlife provides one-to-one healthcare, housing and wellbeing support for people living in temporary accommodation. Although they have a roof over their head, the people Justlife work with are homeless, and need professional support to improve their chances of moving away from homelessness. Without support, many are at risk of falling into rough sleeping or worse.


There are nearly 100K households in temporary accommodation in our country. The closure of many support services and decreasing availability of accommodation, is pushing more people to the edge. 


 



What services do Justlife provide?


Justlife runs a total of 10 projects that either directly support people living in temporary accommodation, or drive national, systemic change to the temporary accommodation system. Here are a few of them: 



Health Engagement work


Facilitating better access to professional treatment for mental and physical ill health, reducing the likelihood of hospital readmissions, and strengthening people’s chances of permanently moving away from homelessness.



Social Connection


Coordinating befriending relationships, organising social activities, and running a peer support group to combat loneliness.

Targeted Referrals


Supporting people who experience homelessness after leaving prison by transitioning them into long term, sustainable housing and giving them skills to live independently, minimises the likelihood of reoffending.



Mobile Justlife


Mobile Justlife involves bringing Justlife’s services to people experiencing homelessness, rather than asking them to come to us.



Temporary Accommodation Action Groups


A Temporary Accommodation Action Group (TAAG) is a local initiative that brings together the key temporary accommodation stakeholders in the city with the aim to collaborate to improve the lives of those without a home. Justlife has organised or facilitated the establishment of TAAGs in Brighton, Manchester, East Sussex and Hackney.



Justlife’s Research and Policy work


The Research & Policy team are the innovation and systems-change arm of Justlife, who work to drive long-term, national change in the housing and homelessness sector. Justlife’s reports draw from the real-life experiences of temporary accommodation residents, lifting the lid on a side of homelessness that's often underrepresented in mainstream discourse, and offering solutions to improve the lives of not just the people Justlife work with, but all those experiencing hidden homelessness across the country.
